WNBA superstar Angel Reese is making waves beyond the basketball court, stepping into the realm of business and fashion. The forward for the Chicago Sky has swiftly evolved from being a talented athlete to a recognized style icon, notably gracing the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last October.
Reese is not stopping there; she is diversifying her endeavors even further. Recently, she made headlines by investing in a skincare company that she holds dear. Daniela Morosi from Business of Fashion reported on Wednesday that Reese, along with Nigerian musician Rema, has officially joined the ranks of investors in Topicals, a brand renowned for its innovative skincare solutions.
In an official announcement, the founder and CEO, Olamide Olowe, expressed her desire to involve individuals who genuinely appreciate and use Topicals’ products. She emphasized the importance of having cultural icons like Angel Reese involved in the project to reshape perceptions around Black-owned businesses. "There’s a pervasive skepticism about the viability of Black-owned ventures among investors. We are thrilled that those with financial resources in our community are eager to support our growth," she stated.
Since its inception in 2020, Topicals has successfully raised over $22.6 million, gaining popularity for its signature products such as the viral $22 under-eye masks and the $38 Faded Serum, both designed to combat dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
This marks not Reese's first foray into the beauty industry. She previously signed an ambassador contract with Mielle Organics, which involves featuring her image in the brand's marketing campaigns, social media promotions, events, and even a special limited-edition product bundle.
Last season, Reese completed her second year in the WNBA, showcasing her impressive skills with averages of 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, while maintaining a shooting percentage of 45.8% from the field and 75.6% from the free-throw line.
